About This Spot

Stepping into Shilla Korean Restaurant, located just off Beneva Road in Sarasota, feels like entering a warm, unpretentious neighborhood gem where the pace slows down and genuine hospitality takes center stage. The quiet hum of conversations blends with the subtle aromas of savory broths and sizzling grills, inviting you to settle in and savor a moment away from the usual bustle.

This family-owned spot carries the heart of Korean home cooking with a welcoming rhythm that’s both relaxed and attentive. The atmosphere reflects a place where locals gather — familiar faces exchanged with new visitors—all greeted with a kind smile and a readiness to accommodate personal tastes and preferences. There’s a comforting, almost intimate quality here, where the kitchen’s care is evident in each carefully crafted bowl and banchan spread.

Rather than a parade of dishes, meals at Shilla unfold like a story built around bold yet balanced flavors. Whether it’s a steaming bowl of noodles bubbling with seafood, a stone pot brimming with mixed rice and vibrant vegetables, or a fragrant stew infused with delicate spice, each dish feels thoughtfully prepared to nourish and please. The accompanying sides, crisp and varied, act as small but essential companions, supporting the main flavors without overwhelming them.

The joy of dining here isn’t just the food, but the atmosphere shaped by a team that knows their patrons by name and genuinely cares about their experience. It’s a place where you might linger over a glass of fruit wine, swapping stories or pausing between bites to soak in a sense of community. In a city where authentic Korean fare can feel rare, Shilla offers a quietly confident space that feels both rooted and inviting—a place worth returning to.

My favorite restaurant in Sarasota. The food is outstanding and the service is amazing They will do anything you ask with any dish on the menu. Add. Delete spice up or down It’s just the most delightful and satisfying and happy place . It’s my go to and I have never been disappointed. I love the family that owns the restaurant. They work so hard and will do anything and everything to please you.

This is what I want when I come to get Korean Cuisine! Our meals were huge and delicious! Previously when I would go to a Korean restaurant I knew that most likely I’d be ripped off for the type of food and portion that I would get, but this place was different. Delicious food and good portion sizes to match the reasonable price points, we ordered a bit too much but it was a delicious, enjoyable, and long meal.

We have had Shilla on our list of places to try, and last night we went and had a wonderful dinner for 5. Shilla is family-owned and they not only know how to cook(!) but they provide outstanding customer service too! The kalbi is outstanding--great depth of flavor, tender, and cooked perfectly to have just a tad bit of char. We also tried the DaengJung soup (delicious), dolsot bibimbop (excellent), JapChae (wonderful), pajoon (seafood pancake, excellent), squid (good), seasoned tofu (good), bulgogi (very good but the kalbi is better), and the sesame chicken (tasty). The staff were very friendly and highly efficient, and we appreciated the ordering guidance that was provided (we were inclined to order everything on the menu ). The one knock on our experience was that it was very dimly lit inside. It provides a cozy atmosphere but these old eyes just need a little more light to see what we are eating One of us was born in Korea, and we have all traveled to Korea. We often seek Korean food wherever we go, and will bookmark places that do it well. All in all, the food is fabulous, and the service made the experience even better. We recommend Shilla without reservation and will definitely be making this a regular dinner stop whenever we are in the Sarasota area!

This restaurant serves acceptable Korean fare. While the service was outstanding, I found the food to be somewhat bland. I had the squid bokkeum and, to be honest, it did not measure up to the food court at an Hmart. I don’t know if there are comparable restaurants in the Sarasota area.

What a great experience from a local facility local owned and operated the family. Your own was fabulous. The food was incredible and we had a great time. They spoke with us and had many people walk in. I could see that the community really supports this restaurant. The waitress and staff greeted most customers and knew most of the people that came. as a local place which melt worlds as it fell at home. I could see it’s not unusual what a friendly place. It was our first visit ,Here won’t be our last. Had several special requests and questions which they gladly made and answered. I cant say enough to say how perfect it made our night.

Great authentic Korean dishes. I love their Pork Bulgogi and Galbi beef. Kids love the chicken wings and Yangnyum boneless wings. Bibimbap is not bad either. We will be back for sure. Our server was also very friendly and very nice to our children

Great food. The chicken bilgogi is very good. The pork mandu (fried dumplings ) are delicious. The little plates of kimchi and veggies is a good starter. Great service, our waitress was so nice. When you walk up it looks blacked out, except for one led sign that says welcome in Korean and English. Other than that it looks closed. The interior is dim, but I think that is what they are going for. I am giving them a five because the food is that good. Very authentic. Take out is an option and they had several people come in and picking up food while we were there. Interior design aside, I would return and I'm afraid my wife now has a new lunch spot during the work week.
